As the new legislative session approaches, we find nine health freedom bills left over from the last session that may be considered in the 2024 session. Three of these are in the Senate and six are in the House. Since four of the House bills have SB numbers, we assume that these bills died in the House last session.
In the Senate, SB 12 deals with stopping child mutilation by our medical providers, SB20 would expand vaccine exemptions, and SB173 would allow for the purchase of over-the-counter ivermectin.
In the House, SB6 would restrict the KDHE from issuing orders relating to infectious diseases and quarantines, SB233 would provide for a civil action against doctors performing gender reassignment, SB314 would prohibit the KDHE from requiring a Covid vaccine to attend childcare or school, SB315 would require daycare, schools, and employers to accept religious vaccine exemptions and would also repeal the meningitis vaccine requirement for student housing, HB2126 would authorize over the counter ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine, and HB2161 is a patient's rights bill that would insure most visitation for a patient.
Remember, any legislation in the House must go through Rep. Brenda Landwehr and Rep. Dr. John Eplee, the Chair and Vice Chair of the health committee so it is very important that we all mail postcards to House leadership to impress on them the importance of appointing new leadership that will protect our Constitutional rights to Individual health freedom. Find all the details for this Call to Action here. Then we need to contact Senator Gossage to encourage her to move the Senate bills in her Public Health and Welfare committee.
Of course, as happens during legislative sessions, there will likely be maneuvering to combine some of these bills and bills yet to be filed, so we must remain vigilant to follow these bills as they move through the 2024 Legislative Session.
